Těšinské Divadlo theatre was established in 1945 thanks to the initiative of local enthusiasts - Czech intelligence, minor entrepreneurs, industrialists and financiers who founded Teshen Silesia Theatre Company. The company governed the theatre until 1948. Těšinské Divadlo inaugurated its activity on 6 October 1945 in the building of “The Shooting Gallery”. From the very beginning the theatre realised and improved the form of popular theatre, designed for wide audiences, all generations and social groups, and as a touring theatre company - for the whole region of Teshen Silesia. In 1961 the theatre moved into a new building in Ostrawska Street where it is situated till this day. Together with the stage there were built administration buildings, workshops and warehouses thanks to which a functional theatre complex was created. Polish professional theatre - Polish Scene in Czech Teschen - the only professional Polish stage outside the country - was established thanks to the efforts of the Polish society in Zaolzie and its only organisation at that time: Polish Cultural and Educational Society, with the special participation of its artistic manager, actor and director, Władysław Niedoba, supported by the then theatre director - Josef Zajic.
